Proposed small state of the Art Tea Research Development Factory for Tea Research Foundation in Kericho

The small state of the Art Tea Research and Development Factory building comprises of one commercial line and a small mini research line. Among other features, the factory has an open area for green leaf reception, wet area for maceration & oxidation, dry area for grading, sorting, bulking and packing workshops for lathe machines & electrical works, food science laboratory, tea tasting room, tea product diversification section for extraction, freeze/spray dryer and services bay to house boiler & provide water storage. Other aspects include external works and factory effluent treatment.

The scope of work included alignment and building foundation soil investigations, topographical survey, design, detailing, production of working drawings and ‘as built’ drawings, construction supervision and defects liability support services.

The total construction cost was Kshs 350 million.
